Obama Touts Stimulus Success, Jobless Rate Climbs Past 10 Percent

Unemployment topped 10 percent in 16 states and the District of Columbia last month, according to federal data released Friday. The rate in Michigan surpassed 15 percent, the first time any state hit that mark since 1984.

The other 15 states where unemployment topped 10 percent last month were: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Strangely, given the fact that lawmakers passed the stimulus based on claims it would save and create jobs, the massively rising unemployment rate does not mean the $787 billion package is failing, White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers said on Friday.

We can take Summers at his word.

The stimulus package IS WORKING AS PLANNED. It was NEVER intended to create jobs. It was, however, intended to create chaos in order to present opportunities to further an agenda.

Historic Obamanation: Avg Length of Unemployment is Highest Ever

The Economy is Even Worse Than You Think

The cumulative job losses over the last six months have been greater than for any other half year period since World War II, including the military demobilization after the war, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The job losses are also now equal to the net job gains over the previous nine years, making this the only recession since the Great Depression to wipe out all job growth from the previous expansion.
